UN Envoy for Somalia commends achievements made at conclusion of HLPF Copenhagen

Copenhagen – The High-Level Partnership Forum (HLPF) concluded today in Copenhagen. The Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General (SRSG) for Somalia, Nicholas Kay, commended the successful discussions of the forum, the endorsement of the communique, and the recommitment to the New Deal through the Somali Compact progress report.

"I would like to thank the Government of Denmark for hosting this event. We have had two rich days of discussions in which fifty-seven delegations have come together to show their support and commitment to Somalia,” said SRSG Nicholas Kay. “I welcome the agreement on the need to redouble our respective efforts on financial accountability and transparency, and to continue implementing together the principles of the Compact and renewing our partnership. The New Deal Somali Compact is the right framework. We must use it to build the platform for unity, peace and prosperity that the Somali people want and deserve. There is no time to lose."
