International community welcomes presidential decree on 2016 electoral process

Mogadishu, 22 May 2016 – The United Nations, the African Union (AU), the Inter-GovernmentalAuthority on Development (IGAD), the European Union (EU), Ethiopia, Italy, Sweden, the United Kingdom and the United States welcome the decree issued by President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud on the modalities of the 2016 electoral process.

Young artist who is healing Somalia through music
Khadar Ibrahim Keyow  started singing at the tender age of 13 and became a household name in Somalia over the ensuing six years. His passion for music started in his childhood. Now 19, Khadar says he  derived his inspiration from the veteran Somali musician Mohamed Saleeban Tubeec. His lyrics contain a conciliatory message of love and tolerance.

International community urges Parliament to approve 2016 electoral model swiftly
Mogadishu, 14 May 2016 – The United Nations, the African Union Mission in Somalia, the Inter-Governmental Authority on Development, the European Union, the United Kingdom, Ethiopia, the United States of America, Sweden and Italy express their deep concern over the protracted process to approve the 2016 electoral model, submitted to the Federal Parliament by Prime Minister Omar Abdirashid Ali Sharmarke on 30 April.
