Justice and Corrections Services
The UN Joint rule of Law Programme is assisting the Federal Government and the Federal Member States to extend justice services across Somalia.
The Joint Justice and Corrections Section (JJCS) provides strategic and technical advice at Federal and Member State levels on the rule of law. Under the UN Joint Rule of Law Programme, JJCS supports the building of institutional capacity and the expanded delivery of justice services through technical advice on the justice and corrections architecture, capacity building activities for justice and Custodial Corps staff, support to mobile courts and for traditional dispute resolution mechanisms, provision of legal aid and the conduct of awareness-raising activities. JJCS, with UNDP, also coordinates the interventions of the United Nations on justice and corrections matters.
