The United Nations Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNSOM) was established on 3 June 2013. Its mandate ended on 31 October 2024, subsumed to the United Nations Transitional Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNTMIS).

Marking Eid al-Adha, UN in Somalia extends warmest wishes to all Somalis

Mogadishu – The United Nations in Somalia extends its warmest wishes to all Somalis on this special occasion of Eid al-Adha.

“We hope that this Eid al-Adha will be a time of peace, joy and prosperity for all Somalis. We take this opportunity to express our solidarity and reaffirm our commitment to supporting Somalia’s progress and stability,” said the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Somalia, Catriona Laing. “We wish you a blessed and happy Eid al-Adha – ciid wanaagsan.”
