Closure of UNSOM

The United Nations Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNSOM) was established on 3 June 2013. Its mandate ended on 31 October 2024, subsumed to the United Nations Transitional Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNTMIS).

New UN Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Somalia arrives in Mogadishu

Mogadishu – The new Deputy Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General (DSRSG), Mr. Peter de Clercq of the Netherlands, arrived in Mogadishu today to assume his duties with the United Nations Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNSOM). He will also serve as United Nations Resident Coordinator, Humanitarian Coordinator and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Resident Representative in Somalia.
