The United Nations Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNSOM) was established on 3 June 2013. Its mandate ended on 31 October 2024, subsumed to the United Nations Transitional Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNTMIS).

Statement attributable to the spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General on Somalia

New York - The Secretary-General condemns in the strongest terms the attack today on Villa Somalia, the seat of the Somali government in Mogadishu. He expresses his condolences to the families of those killed and wishes a speedy recovery to the injured.
