Overview
Somalia’s recovery remains on track following the most extensive electoral process in the country for decades and the transfer of power to President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed ‘Farmaajo’. Attention has turned to the new government’s priorities, which include: improving long-term security by reshaping the national security architecture; strengthening governance and political reform; responding to humanitarian needs and building drought resilience; and developing an economy that offers Somalis livelihoods, jobs and generates domestic revenue. Sustaining Somalia’s transition towards peace and prosperity will require an ongoing partnership with the international community and an increasingly coordinated donor response.
