Closure of UNSOM

The United Nations Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNSOM) was established on 3 June 2013. Its mandate ended on 31 October 2024, subsumed to the United Nations Transitional Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNTMIS).

Leading international partners welcome ongoing dialogue in Galmudug State

Mogadishu – Belguim, Denmark, Ethiopia, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, The Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, United Kingdom, United States, the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM), the European Union, the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) and the United Nations, as major international partners of Somalia, commend the ongoing dialogue in Galmudug to unify the state, promote stability, and bring parties together for the benefit of its people and the whole of Somalia.

We encourage all stakeholders to continue these endeavours and to take forward broad-based and inclusive reconciliation, leading to the transparent and fair selection of a new Parliament and President, free from violence.

We reaffirm our support for Somalia.
