Puntland State of Somalia marks International Women's Day

The Puntland Ministry of Women Development and Family Affairs (MoDAFA) marked International Women's Day today in collaboration with UN agencies and International NGOs.



The day was marked under the theme: “Make it Happen, Encouraging Effective Action for Advancing and Recognizing Women”.


The Puntland President Abdiweli Mohamed Ali “Gaas” who officially launched the day, emphasized the role of women and mothers in the society. The President said that women are the majority of the society and they should play their political and economic role. Talking about how his government deals with women, President Gaas said his government allocated highest number of positions for the women. He added that his government increased women employment and political participation.
