Hargeisa, 9 January 2020 – The United Nations envoy to Somalia today flagged the world body’s belief that confidence-building efforts and dialogue between the authorities in Hargeisa and Mogadishu could bring about broad benefits in several areas.
It is recess time, and lively chatter can be heard from the grounds of Abdalla Deerow School in Baidoa.
Located in the centre of the city, it provides free education five days a week to more than one thousand girls from vulnerable communities in the area.
Jowhar – A delegation of some of Somalia’s key international partners today visited Jowhar, the capital of Hirshabelle state, as part of their series of consultations ahead of a number of key processes the country faces in 2020.
Mogadishu – As Africa celebrates its youth, the United Nations envoy to Somalia today recognised the immense potential of young Somali women and men to contribute to peace and prosperity in Somalia.
