United Nations commends United Kingdom for contribution to peace process in Somalia
Mogadishu, 13 December 2016 - The Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General (SRSG) in Somalia Michael Keating has commended the United Kingdom government for deploying soldiers to support the peacekeeping mission in Somalia.

A three-day workshop to discuss modalities for implementing Somalia’s New Policing Model was held last week in Baidoa, the administrative capital of South West state.

Galmudug and Puntland have completed the electoral process for the House of the People, bringing the number of federal states that have concluded the exercise to five.

A ceremony was held today in the Puntland capital of Garowe to commemorate International Human Rights Day and mark the end of the annual 16-day campaign against gender-based violence.

HirShabelle became the third state to conclude the electoral process as another 13 candidates were elected to the House of the People in the state capitals of Jowhar, Cadaado and Mogadishu.
