  • 01 Mar 2019 - New York – The Secretary-General strongly condemns the deadly terrorist attacks that took place in Mogadishu. The Secretary-General extends his condolences to the families and friends of the victims and wishes a swift recovery to those injured. He commends the response of the Somali emergency services to the bombings.
  • 30 Jan 2019 - Mogadishu – H.E. President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed and H.E. Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khaire today welcomed the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs Rosemary DiCarlo to Mogadishu. They held open, cordial, and frank discussions while committing to strengthen the relationship between the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) and the United Nations (UN). 
  • 09 Jan 2019 - PRESS STATEMENT 02/2019 Mogadishu – The Officer-in-Charge of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNSOM) and Deputy Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Somalia, Raisedon Zenenga, congratulates Mr. Said Abdullahi Deni and Mr. Ahmed Elmi Karash on their election as President and Vice-President of Puntland, respectively, in yesterday’s balloting in the Federal Member State’s Assembly.
  • 05 Jan 2019 - New York – The members of the Security Council expressed their regret at the decision of the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) to declare the Special Representative of the Secretary-General (SRSG) for Somalia, Nicholas Haysom, persona non grata, and took note of the statement attributable to the Spokesman for the Secretary-General on Somalia on 4 January.
  • 04 Jan 2019 - New York – The Secretary-General deeply regrets the decision of the Government of the Federal Republic of Somalia to declare the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Somalia and Head of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNSOM), Nicholas Haysom, persona non grata.
  • 03 Jan 2019 - Mogadishu – Thank you Mr. President, I arrived in Somalia on 3 October and have been well received by prominent officials of the Federal Government and of the regional states. I have been impressed with the Federal Government’s far-reaching reform agenda and their commitment to practical implementation through roadmaps for delivery in each relevant sector. Somalia has maintained a positive trajectory but continuing political turbulence could throw it off course.
  • 01 Jan 2019 - PRESS STATEMENT 01/2019 Mogadishu – The Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General on Somalia, Nicholas Haysom, condemned in the strongest possible terms today’s indirect fire attack on the main United Nations compound in the Somali capital. Seven mortars landed inside the compound this afternoon, injuring two UN staff members and one contractor. None of the injuries is life-threatening.
