Sidikou made a joint call for increased measures to protect Somalia’s women and girls and reiterated their commitment to support efforts to combat sexual and gender based violence in Somalia.

They expressed concern about the humanitarian impact and loss of life stemming from the conflict and called upon all parties to refrain from violence.

  • 21 Feb 2015 - New York –The Secretary-General strongly condemns the terrorist attack today at the Central Hotel in Mogadishu, during Friday prayers, which resulted in the death and injury of many innocent Somalis, including government officials and Members of Parliament.
  • 20 Feb 2015 - Mogadishu – The Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Somalia (SRSG), Nicholas Kay, condemns, in the strongest terms, today’s attack on the Central Hotel in Mogadishu that resulted in the death and injury of dozens of people, including senior members of the Federal Government of Somalia. Al-Shabaab has claimed responsibility for the attack.

They reiterated their call for the President, Prime Minister and the Federal Parliament to move expeditiously toward the implementation of the remaining Vision 2016 objectives through the new Cabinet approved by Parliament.
