  • 22 Feb 2014 - Mogadishu – The UN Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Somalia, Nicholas Kay, today condemned an attack on the headquarters of the Somali government in Mogadishu.
  • 21 Feb 2014 - New York – The Secretary-General condemns in the strongest terms the attack today on Villa Somalia, the seat of the Somali government in Mogadishu. He expresses his condolences to the families of those killed and wishes a speedy recovery to the injured. He pays tribute to the Somali National Forces and the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) for their efficient and professional response in repelling the attackers.
  • 20 Feb 2014 - New York – The members of the Security Council condemn in the strongest terms yesterday’s attack on a hotel in Bula Burde, Somalia, for which Al Shabaab has claimed responsibility and has caused numerous deaths and injuries. The members of the Security Council expressed their condolences to the families of the victims, which included members of the Somalia National Army, AMISOM, and civilians. The members of the Security Council also wished a swift recovery to those injured.
  • 16 Feb 2014 - Mogadishu – The joint UN and AMISOM working group on the Human Rights Due Diligence Policy (HRDDP) held its inaugural meeting in Mogadishu on 15 February, discussing a range of ways to build national institutions with a strong human rights foundation in Somalia.

  • 14 Feb 2014 - Mogadishu – The members of the Security Council are outraged by today’s terrorist attack which targeted a UN convoy in Mogadishu, for which Al-Shabaab has claimed responsibility and which has caused numerous deaths and injuries. The members of the Security Council extended their condolences to the victims and their families, as well as to the people and the Government of the Republic of Somalia. 
  • 13 Feb 2014 - Mogadishu – A vehicle exploded close to a convoy of UN vehicles about 12.30 today near the international airport in Mogadishu. The UN in Somalia strongly condemns the attack and expresses deep sorrow at the reported deaths and injuries of Somali bystanders. A UN car was damaged but no UN staff were injured . Four security escorts were lightly injured.
  • 06 Feb 2014 - Mogadishu – Deputy Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Somalia, Fatiha Serour, paid a visit to Kismayo on 5 February, where she met with the Leader of the Interim Jubba Administration (IJA), Sheikh Ahmed Mohamed Islan Madobe, and members of his cabinet.
