I would like to begin by thanking President Said Abdullahi Deni and his team for the warm welcome provided to the members of our visiting delegation today.
Somalia - The latest round of public consultations on Somalia’s constitutional review process came to an end this week, with members of the public providing more of their views on what should go into the final document to safeguard their rights on a range of issues.
Mogadishu – Coinciding with the International Day of Peace, a group of Somali students today graduated with master’s degrees in subjects with special relevance to peacebuilding in Somalia – and were encouraged to channel their learning towards the betterment of their country.
New York – The Members of the Security Council were briefed by the Special Representative of the Secretary-General on the current situation in Somalia.
Mogadishu – As Somalis mark the one-year anniversary of the 17 September Agreement, international partners* are increasingly alarmed that the escalating dispute between the President and Prime Minister will undermine Somalia’s stability and derail the electoral process.
