New York – United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres announced today the appointment of Raisedon Zenenga of Zimbabwe as his new Deputy Special Representative in the United Nations Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNSOM).

Mogadishu – A group of graduate students from Somalia and elsewhere were today encouraged to put their educational achievements at the service of solving their countries’ – and the world’s – problems.
Mogadishu – A United Nations-contracted cargo plane today crashed while landing on an air-strip in El-Barde in Somalia’s South West State.
New York – The Secretary-General strongly condemns the attack on Mogadishu’s Aden Adde International Airport area yesterday, which resulted in the death of a member of the Ugandan United Nations Guard Unit at the United Nations Compound.
Mogadishu – The United Nations in Somalia strongly condemns a mortar attack which killed a member of the UN Guard Unit on Thursday.
Mogadishu – The United Nations can confirm that there has been an aviation incident involving a UN-contracted helicopter in Galmudug, Somalia. The helicopter was conducting an air medical evacuation. The United Nations is in the process of gathering all relevant information.
