  • 03 Dec 2021 - Mogadishu – On the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the United Nations Secretary-General's Special Representative for Somalia, James Swan, calls for increased recognition of the rights of persons with disabilities under the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
  • 28 Nov 2021 - New York –  The Secretary-General strongly condemns yesterday’s deadly terrorist attack on a United Nations-affiliated convoy in front of the Mucassar School in Mogadishu, resulting in many casualties. The Secretary-General extends his deepest condolences to the families of the victims and wishes a swift recovery to those injured.  He calls on the Somali authorities to bring those responsible to justice.
  • 26 Nov 2021 - Mogadishu – International partners* urge the completion of inclusive and credible House of the People elections acceptable by all electoral stakeholders and the Somali people according to a published timetable, by 24 December 2021 and for presidential elections to be completed imminently thereafter.
  • 05 Nov 2021 - Mogadishu – International partners* are deeply concerned by continuing delays in the Somali electoral process. While the recent start to the House of the People voting process is a positive development, the electoral timetable remains well behind schedule and needs to be accelerated. 
  • 29 Oct 2021 - Mogadishu – With the peaceful completion of polling and announcement of preliminary results from ‘one person, one vote’ electoral process in three districts of Puntland, international partners* congratulate the people of Puntland for leading the way towards instituting a system of universal suffrage elections across Somalia.   
  • 26 Oct 2021 - Mogadishu – International partners* are alarmed by the continued fighting in the town of Guriel in the Federal Member State of Galmudug. Not only is the conflict causing severe humanitarian suffering to the people of the area, but it is also distracting from the urgent priorities of completing the electoral process and countering al-Shabaab. 
  • 25 Oct 2021 - Qardho –  Representatives from the United Nations today visited Qardho in a show of solidarity with the people of Puntland as citizens participated in a ‘one person, one vote’ electoral process in three districts of the Federal Member State.
  • 02 Oct 2021 - Mogadishu – Somalia’s international partners* note that President Mohamed Abdullahi “Farmajo” and Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble continue to engage in mediated efforts to resolve the differences expressed in their exchange of statements on 16 September 2021. 
  • 18 Sep 2021 - New York – The Members of the Security Council were briefed by the Special Representative of the Secretary-General on the current situation in Somalia.
  • 17 Sep 2021 - Mogadishu – As Somalis mark the one-year anniversary of the 17 September Agreement, international partners* are increasingly alarmed that the escalating dispute between the President and Prime Minister will undermine Somalia’s stability and derail the electoral process.
