We are also deeply concerned about the shelling of civilian infrastructure, which has resulted in casualties and widespread displacement. Attacks against civilians must stop immediately.

29 Nov 2022 - New York – The Secretary-General strongly condemns Al-Shabaab’s latest attack on the Villa Rays Hotel in Mogadishu, resulting in multiple casualties. He is saddened that Somalia continues to be plagued by such heinous acts of terrorism and calls for the perpetrators to be held to account.
25 Nov 2022 - Mogadishu – At the start of the global 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, the United Nations in Somalia calls for a redoubling of efforts to prevent and address violence against women and girls.
01 Nov 2022 - New York – The Members of the Security Council condemned in the strongest possible terms the heinous terrorist attack by Al-Shabaab in Mogadishu, on 29th October 2022, which killed at least 100 people and injured more than 300. They expressed their deepest sympathy and condolences to the families of the victims, the people of the Federal Republic of Somalia, and wished a speedy recovery to those injured.
