The members of the Security Council condemned in the strongest terms the terrorist attacks that took place in the Aden Adde International Airport area in Mogadishu, and Beledweyne, Hirshabelle on 23 March 2022. These attacks, claimed by Al-Shabaab, resulted in the death of dozens of people and injured many more.
23 Mar 2022 - New York –The Secretary-General strongly condemns today’s deadly attacks on compounds located inside the Aden Adde International Airport area in Mogadishu.
He expresses his deep condolences to the families of the victims and wishes a speedy recovery for the injured. He calls for the perpetrators to be brought to justice.
