Mogadishu – More than two dozen Somali survivors of sexual violence in conflict graduated today from a United Nations-backed training programme aimed at enhancing their opportunities for economic self-sustenance.
Dollow – After witnessing the sweeping consequences of drought during a joint visit with Somalia’s drought envoy today, the top United Nations humanitarian official for the Horn of Africa country called for a major scale-up in resources to prevent famine.
Mogadishu – The United Nations in Somalia today congratulated President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud on his inauguration, and said it looks forward to working with his administration in support of achieving national priorities.

Mogadishu – The United Nations in Somalia welcomed the conclusion of the country’s presidential election today.
Hargeisa – On a visit to Hargeisa today, a senior United Nations official pledged the world body’s support for efforts to rebuild the Waheen marketplace which was recently destroyed in a blaze.
