Mogadishu/New York – The political stresses currently gripping Somalia and the need for dialogue and compromise to resolve them featured strongly in the briefing today of the United Nations envoy to the country at a meeting of the world body’s Security Council.

New York – The Secretary-General is gravely concerned by the outbreak of violence in Mogadishu and calls on all parties to exercise restraint and calm.  

Mogadishu — The Government of Somalia and its international partners seek $1.09 billion to provide life-saving assistance to four million vulnerable people affected by a worsening humanitarian situation around the country.
